The Apache is a super-straight fairway driver made by Gateway. This disc is sure to be an easy to control flyer.
The Apache is available in both Sure Grip and ultra durable Evolution plastics. Both these plastics are durable and will be able to handle a lot of shots before their flight path is altered. This frisbee is really fun to throw.
The Sabre is a pretty straight flying fairway driver manufactured by Gateway. With a mild degree of high sped turn and minimal end flight fade it’s no wonder that beginners like this disc.
The Sabre is no longer in stock. Keep an eye on InfiniteDiscs.com to see if it returns.
The Gateway Ninja is the fastest, sharpest golf disc you will likely ever see. This disc has a huge 2.8cm rim, and is not PDGA approved. The rim of this disc is so sharp, it really could be used by a Ninja as a weapon. It also has a textured grip added to the top and outer edge of the disc for a great control and feel, even in wet conditions. This golf disc is possibly the fastest, farthest flying golf disc on the market.
If you like thick rims, and want a disc that will go farther than anything else, buy the Gateway Ninja for non-PDGA play. For strong arms, the Ninja disc has a relatively straight flight path and moderate fade.
The ABC Bee Line is a fast high speed distance driver made by ABC Discs. This slightly understable Disc golf disc has an ultra-thick rim and will go the distance for power throwers. Dan Pastore, the owner of ABC Discs describes it as “a faster, more powerful Katana with amazing glide.”
The Vibram is an overstable mid-range made with quality Vibram X-link rubber. This disc provides a smooth release and can handle powerful shots into headwinds. Vibram if this disc is thrown at 56 miles per hour it will fly for 380 feet. Most disc golfers don’t throw this fast. The reviewers at Inbounds disc golf have estimated that the typical average experienced player will throw this disc around 300 feet, with 56% low speed fade.
The Sole is the newest Vibram putter available in X-Link rubbers. Unlike the other Vibram putters with flat tops, the sole has a more traditional domed top. While Vibram’s other putters are known for their driving abilities, the Sole is the putting putter, and the one you’re going to want in your arsenal for short shots into the chains. For longer approach shots, the Sole is slightly overstable and isn’t going to turn. It’s a straight flyer with a consistent end of flight fade. Like all Vibram discs, durability is one of the Sole’s biggest advantage to other discs. The X-Link compound has an unmatched life span in terms of disc quality. These discs handle intense beatings and still maintain their flight path so you will not be let down. The Vibram Sole disc is available in weights from 150-175 grams.
The AMP is the second fairway driver released by MVP. This is an understable disc that is great for beginners. This disc has substantial high speed turn and is equipped with a forward penetrating end flight fade. For less powerful disc golfers, the AMP makes a long straight flying disc. Whereas, for the more powerful players, the AMP is great for super straight hyzer flip lines and slicing right-turning shots (RHBH). The MVP AMP is currently available in smooth Neutron plastic. The GYRO technology allows this disc to have some incredible aerodynamics, alongside linear and angular momentum. This disc definitely “AMPs” up the game.
The Shock is a thin fairway driver that is supposed to be more stable than the Volt, and offer excellent glide. The Shock turns less, but has a more than average fading throw than the aforementioned Volt. For power throwers that find the Volt flippy, the stability the Shock offers is why this is a popular disc. The Shock is available in MVP’s quality Neutron plastic, which is a hard smooth plastic that glides well. Like all MVP discs, the Shock uses GYRO Technology to maximize control and forward glide.
The Patriot is a new understable fairway driver that is a great compliment to the Legacy line of discs. This disc brings outstanding control for beginners and golfers with slower arm speeds. For new golfers looking for a disc that can give straight drives, then the Patriot is the one you want. Legacy gives the Patriot flight ratings of 7/5/-2/1.
The D4 is a slightly understable distance driver in the Prodigy line. This disc is an amazingly far distance driver designed for intermediate players and holds up against disc golfers with moderate arm speed. Even beginners and amateurs will have times were they can get this disc to sail. The glide this disc offers is excellent and it has a very limited end of flight fade. The D4 has a soft beveled rim that allows for a smoother, and more comfortable release. Some credit the longer flight to the more efficient inner rim. This disc has very similar dimensions to other drivers in the Prodigy line and also possesses the same rim width (2.3 cm) as the other drivers. By learning the similar feelings that other discs have that make them react differently, disc golfers should be able to learn how to throw more consistently and it will provide them with the ability to choose the perfect driver for whatever shots they face.
