These are different brands of disc golf discs. In disc golf, the brand is not necessarily the manufacturer as many manufactures produce discs for multiple brands.
Welcome to the Zone. This is a slim disc with a thick rim that gives the thrower something to hold onto. This is a very overstable putter that can handle headwinds, giving some strategic fades, forehand shots, flick putts, and slamming into chains at just the right angle. Many players have this disc in their arsenal that gets them out of situations where a flick or forehand putt is the only option. Because it so overstable it can handle the torque from a flick!
The Zone is available in both the inexpensive Pro-D and premium ESP plastics.
Lightning’s fastest distance driver. The MX1 is a sleek disc with a thin rim depth. This disc’s rim is thicker than any other Lightning disc at 2.1 cm. The flight path of the MX-1 is slightly overstable and it comes with a very significant high speed turn and substantial end flight fade. This disc turns over fairly easily, though it’s not good for forehand shots, but it does make a nice roller. This is a nice driver for intermediate disc golfers.
The XS held the world distance record in 2001. this relatively stable flying fairway has a stability rating of 1, so long as it’s in the Elite X plastic. This disc is a consistent flyer for beginners and intermediates alike.
The XS is available in the mid grade Elite-X plastic as well as the clear durable Elite Z. If you’re looking for something with a little more personality, this disc is available dyed in both plastics.
This stable straight flying putter has a great feel that is sure to aid in making putts. The Rubber putter has a very thin, but deep rim, and is taller than the average disc at 2.2cm in height. The Rubber putter isn’t really made of rubber, but instead is a grippy plastic that feels rubbery.
The Elite-X Xpress is the first distance driver made by Discraft. The understability of this disc helps new golfers by fading left. (Those throwing a right backhand.) . The Xpress is also one of the best discs for learning to throw rollers. Discraft gives this disc a stability rating of -1 in Elite X plastic.
Improve your short game with The Upshot. This putter disc has absolutely minimal fade to aid you in landing near the basket on approach shots, and in the chains from putts. This disc also floats in water and is inexpensive.
The Gator is a bulky overstable mid-range disc, ideal for those shots you want to have stay put right next to the basket. The Gator has very little glide (Innova rating of 2) and will go only as far as you throw it. It makes a decent putter on very windy days.
The Gator is available in an inexpensive DX plastic blend, which provides a super grippy, accurate release that sticks to the ground without skipping or rolling much. It is also available in premium Star plastic.
Looking for a straight flying, accurate fairway driver? The Discraft XL is a stable distance driver you may want to consider. In Pro-D plastic, Discraft gives the XL a stability rating of 0, meaning the overall flight path is going to be straight. In this plastic, the XL lowest weight comes in at 150 grams. In other plastics it will have a slight fade more than it will turn (Ever so slightly.)
The XL is one of Discraft more popular discs. This disc is mostly used by pros but is also a good driver choice for beginners. This disc is available in all the popular plastics Discraft makes: Pro-D, Elite-X, Elite-Z, ESP, and the soft flexible FLX.
One interesting thing about the XL is that the stability varies in almost every plastic type. While the stability in Pro D is (0), it is 1 in Elite X, 1.2 in FLX, and 1.5 in EXP and Elite Z.
If you want a more colorful disc, consider buying the XL dyed in Elite X and Elite Z plastics.
The Innova Dragon is a great stable driver that floats in water. It is in that speed range where it can be classified as either a fairway or distance driver. The Dragon is made of a unique floating blend of DX plastic that wears quickly. This golf disc has a substantial degree of turn (-2), thus making for a great forehand roller. It also comes with a significant amount of fade that provides an overall stable flight path.
The unique thing about the Dragon is its ability to float in water. Floating discs ideal for those extra wet courses and fun for those rounds around the lake. Every serious disc golfer ought to own at least one floating disc. The Dragon is thicker than most drivers (1.9cm height) but has an average rim depth. The less dense plastic is a bit thicker than other plastic molds.
The Wasp is one of the more popular overstable mid-range discs. This disc is great for windy conditions and strategic spots of fade.
The Wasp is only available in the ultra-durable Elite-Z and ultra-premium Titanium plastics. If you’re looking out for a quality mid-range that will last, the plastics will do a job. For a more colorful option, consider a dyed Wasp in Elite Z plastic.
